Helping ever
yone to achieve beyond what they and others thought possible
Derwen Charity supports Derwen College according to our students' and clients' needs.
Derwen College is a specialist day and residential college for young adults (aged 16–25) with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Students follow a two or three year study programme or pathway, where they learn key employability and independence skills. All our programmes and pathways are tailored to meet individual students' needs in their preparation for adulthood.
Residential and day students attend our main campus in Gobowen, near Oswestry, Shropshire. We have three other satellite sites across the county in Walford, Telford, and Ludlow, each delivering programmes to day students from the local area.
Derwen College is also home to our clients, who either live on-site in our Agnes Hunt Village or close by in Southlands Avenue. The client's residences are built and maintained through fundraising and donations made to Derwen Charity. The clients live in a supported housing environment run by Derwen Care and they are supported to access the local community. Many of them volunteer in our retail outlets.
We fundraise to ensure students and clients have access to specialist tools and equipment, and to provide exciting opportunities and experiences.
Derwen College is ‘A Place of Possibility’.
We work with our young people and adults to support them to achieve what they want and challenge them to do more. Staff work hard to provide the support, care and confidence our learners need to boost their skills and push their boundaries. As a community we care for one another all our learners regularly exceed what is thought possible.
We are very grateful to everyone who so kindly supports us.
